This was so hard to write- I kept getting in my feelings over how truly incredible BKF and B&R is. The marriages we have seen firsthand go from ready to divorce to fully devoted and strong is so encouraging and gives us a reason to keep going. We can't imagine a life where we aren't leading people through B&R because it is a game changer.
Scott and I just started leading our 4th group of families through the Blended & Redeemed book and every time is my new favorite. On the first night we have a group of strangers walking in with all their hurt, frustrations, and sometimes honestly, they're ready to walk away and quit...but they leave a very different group of people. Each week they're sharing struggles from life and reflections and ah-ha moments from the book, so relieved they have a group of people who understand. From that first night when they voice excitement over finding a Christ focused community who understands where they're at to the end of the book when they share how far they've come and the growth they've seen in their marriage and parenting, it is all amazing. As we walk through the book alongside them, we can reflect on where we were when we first found BKF and how much we've grown and strengthened our marriage plus getting little reminders of where we can work in things to continue to grow. Leading small groups has even blessed our children as they've been able to connect with other kids who understand the challenges they're facing, and it has been fun to see our girls grow in leadership as they encourage others in the same positions. The B&R book and small groups has led to us building this whole extended support system in our church community for blended families and now we get to do monthly events for the wives or husbands to connect and encourage each other even outside of the books. We have Pastors who grew up in blended families telling us they never even realized the need for support until they saw the growth in the couples who go through the book. Being in a military community we land on the higher end of blended family statistics and love that God planted us here to share that there is a way to blend families successfully and focused on Christ- bonus the transient nature of the military means the B&R book gets in hands that travel!
